I purchased a car for my daughter last August and paid the annual premium. In November the insurance company said I cancelled her coverage and they issued me a refund for the remainder of the policy year (thru July). I didn't know what the refund was for, but deposited the check anyway. I don't know what I did to cancel coverage (for just this vehicle, all my other vehicles remain covered.) I don't dispute that I must have done something.... In April I found out I didn't have coverage for this car by my accidentally calling the insurance company about another question. I asked for them to reinstate the coverage immediately. They did and sent me a bill for the full amount of the refund, plus another $176. I feel I should only pay insurance for the remaining two months on this year's policy since, if I would have had an accident, the insurance company would not have covered me. They say they can't charge me for just the remaining two months, but that they have to bill me the full amount (plus what's with the additional $176 charge?) I'm thinking that I should just go to another insurance company and get the car covered. Any thoughts?

how does that work when I go to the doctor? I just asked the same question, but I worded it all wrong, I think. So, I go to the doctor with strep throat and my co-pay is $50 and I have a $10000 deductable. How much will I actually pay? Logic tells me that with a deductable, like car insurance, I would pay for the entire office visit cost, since it would obviously be less than $10000. And a $25 co-pay for prescriptions! Just purchased brand new vehicle and wanted some feedback on which companies offer inexpensive rates and superior service when needed.

What are the odds of insurance rates increasing after a ticket?

Okay, so late last year, I had a run in with a cop on the freeway who pulled me over for speeding. After having a lengthy talk with him, I managed to talk him into just citing me for some dice I had on my rear-view mirror. It ran me a little over a hundred bucks, and I don't think it really effected my insurance. Now, just the other day, I got caught in a speeding trap on the freeway and got pulled over, and this time I did get a ticket for speeding for doing 81 mph. Now, as far as I know, insurance companies only check a person's MVR once every three years or so, but I've only just begun to research the subject. So my question is, given the information I just provided, what are the odds that my insurance company finds out about my new ticket and raises my rates?

I have zen 2004 model, i pay insurance premium of 12k at bajaj allaince I want to lower the premium, can it be done to the same policy or should i take a diff policy, at maruthi service center they told they can get me insurance at National Insurance for a premium of 5k .... does the premium amount have any effect on claims ...plz explain one more thing if i make a claim in an insurance company and the after some time if i ask for cancellation of my policy .... will they charge anything .... is it better to abandon my old policy and switch to new company or ask for formal cancellation

Are you required to first get an estimate from your insurance for car repairs?

I recently got into a car accident and I'm trying to get repairs done. Do I have to get an estimate of damages from my insurance company first or should I go ahead and get estimates from an auto shop? I've heard that if you get your car estimated by the insurance company first, they tend to overlook problems and try to write you a quick check and normally won't give you more money if more damages are found by the repair shops. But I don't know if I'm supposed to get my own estimates first? What should I do? Thanks!!

What is an insurance discount disallowance?

i got my bill today for the lab where i had some tests done. on the bill it had a disallowance under the insurance discount category. just wondering what that was. the bill was about 400 and insurance paid 200 and it said disallowance of about 175 so my bill only ended up being 25 dollars.

I've had my driving license for a little over a year now and I badly want a car but I don't necessarily need one at the minute. The insurance is the only factor which prevents me from getting my own car. My friend has a car that is taxed, MOT'd, you name it but he hasn't got a license yet so the car stays on his drive. A few of us want to go to blackpool or something for the weekend coming up and I was enquiring about pay as you go insurance, some insurance companies do this, some don't, some have different polices etc etc. Some you have to be over te age of 21, some like the norwich union aviva I believe you can be 18 but you would of needed to held your license for over a year which I have. I can't seem to find an insurance company which could maybe do a month so I can drive my friends car, Aviva was unable to provide a quote due to the fact that I'm male and 19 years of age. If anyone can shed a little bit of light on this topic and help me out, It would be mostly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I've been wanting to get classic insurance on my '71 F250 for a while but the one requirement I don't meet is the fact that I don't own a suitable primary vehicle/daily driver. My primary vehicle is a motorcycle which is feasible in Arizona but doesn't qualify according to insurance providers regardless. My question is, is there a way around that? My brother and I share a place and I'm wondering if I can add his vehicle to my policy in order to meet the primary vehicle/daily driver qualification.
